WELCOME ALL PARTICIPANTS!!!

The 100-Hour Ten Week Challenge was inspired by the participants of the Biggest Loser League. Seeking a way to be held accountable for their exercise, and looking for a goal that exceeded even their own expectations – this challenge was born.
Participants will strive to be active for 100-hours over a ten week period. This will allow each individual to start out at their own level of activity and continually increase their fitness level each week to achieve the 100-hour goal. Any and all activity that is completed as defined in the rules below will be counted towards this goal. The Challenge is open to all members of The Biggest Loser League who have signed up prior to the deadline.

Each person who completes this 100-Hour Challenge will be entered into a random drawing for several small incentive items. You can find a list of these items at the end of the rules.

Official Rules and Regulations For Participation:

1. Only those Biggest Loser League Members signed up for the Challenge by 9:00pm Eastern on December 28, 2008 may participate in this challenge.

2. The Challenge will last for a ten-week period, starting on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 6:00am and ending on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at 9:00pm Eastern. Only hours from this time period will be counted towards your challenge goal.

3. Participants agree to achieve their personal best, and strive to increase their individual performance each week, to obtain a goal of 100-hours of activity within the 10-week period. {Hour Allowances should be made in advance for individuals with special needs – such as illness or injury}. The point is – to challenge YOURSELF!

4. All participants have received the approval from their personal physician to participate in physical activity, and hold the moderator(s) of this Challenge, the Biggest Loser and NBC from any and all liability. Basically – each person is responsible for themselves! This event is NOT sponsored or endorsed by The Biggest Loser or NBC, or any of their sponsors and/or affiliates.

5. Participants are asked to create an exercise ticker at TickerFactory.com, with the total weekly hours posted at the end of each week before 9:00pm Eastern on Sunday nights. Please place this ticker in your signature here at the Message Forums. Instructions for Tickers can be found here. Participants may also sign up for the President’s Challenge and join the Biggest Loser League group #77703 – to allow for group tracking. {this is optional}

6. If a participant fails to complete their hours two weeks in a row .. they will be dropped from the Challenge unless other arrangements are made with the moderator {ie: pre-arranged vacation}.

7. Participants are encouraged to discuss their journeys with the other participants here on the message forums, and to offer support to individuals on their personal profile comments.

8. Methods of obtaining activity hours include: Walking, Jogging, Running, Swimming, Elliptical training, Cycling, Rowing, aerobics, hockey, Wii Sports, Jillian Michaels for Wii, Wii Fit and/or any combination of these exercises. Other forms not listed may be used when first discussed with the moderator(s). Daily background walking – ie: around the office or house – can not be used in this challenge. The Exercise must be purposeful with the intent to increase your heart rate and burn calories.

9. The Moderator(s) will check each Participants Ticker here at the Message Boards every Sunday night at 9:00pm Eastern to obtain your hour totals for the week. This information will be compiled into a spreadsheet and shared in this Message Board thread – along with an overall team mileage total.

10.Any additional concerns or questions should be addressed below … and participants should check in at least once a week for updates concerning the challenge.

11. All participants who complete their 100-hours within the ten week period defined above will be entered in to a drawing for several incentive items. At this time – those incentives include: $25 Borders.com Gift Cards; $15 Starbucks Gift Card, $25 Amazon.com gift certificate, My Coke Rewards points to be redeemed for a variety of magazine subscriptions, and iTunes Gift Certificates. Items may be added to this list if additional incentive donations are received – and the moderator reserves the right to substitute incentives of equal value as needed.

Please sign up by leaving a message below. Give us an idea of what type of activities you’ll be doing to achieve your hours each week – you might give others an idea of a new form of exercise! At this time any activity not listed in the rules above will be considered and the moderator will let you know if it’s been approved.

Any and all questions should be directed towards WilloKeays – and not the NBC Administrators or Moderators - either here or via Private Message. I hope to see as many people as possible signed up {hence the one month window for sign ups!!}

Once again – this is NOT an NBC or Biggest Loser sanctioned Challenge – but an activity organized by the members themselves. You are strongly encouraged to see your doctor before participating in any new exercise program.

Besides my usual walking & staionary biking Id like circuit (resistance/strength) training, step routines, BL & other various artists cardio/exercise DVDs to be considered.....
Oh & is the winter challenge logo on a coffee mug going to be available soon too?...lol... (LOVE my 500mi mug)

Well duh .. I meant to include all sorts of strength training in the rules. So yes - all of the above activities can be counted towards your hours.

And YES - I will be updating the Cafe Press site with the new logo. I have to get creative .. with the "free" store I'm only allowed one of each item. So I'll have to decide what stuff to keep with the old logo, and what to put the new logo on. I'm also making a generic Challenge logo ... that can be used year-round.{see it below}

I will be doing strength training, exercise bike, regular bike, treadmill, walking, hiking, Elliptical, yoga, and not sure what else. But hope to get some idea's from other members.

This is going to be so cool. But it will not be cool if I don't get off of my rump and get the rest of my 500 miles done. :-)

Count me in too!! Treadmill, stationary bike, weight/resistance training, Wii, DVD's, etc. This is a great new challenge--I'll be checking in on the cafe press store also!! I love you guys!!!!

I am in! I will be doing the treadmill, swimmimg, basketball, and the wii fit.

I guess I should chime in with my plans.

I'll be using my stationary bike, the BL DVD Strength training and cool down portion, the Wii Fit, and if Santa brings them Jillian's Wii Fitness and Bob's Yoga DVD.

It's possible I'll be joining a gym as well ... I still have not convinced myself to spend the money considering I still don't have a full time job. If I find a way to earn some moola - I'll check out the gym smile.gif

Me,me,me!!Pick me,too!! This will be my first big challenge 'cuz I missed the boat on the first one. rolleyes.gif I'm going to be waterwalking, elliptical, walking, strength training, BL dvd's, and if we get any snow, I'd like to try snowshoeing.
I hope to get ideas from other members, as well.

I'm game. I received a Wii for Christmas (early but that's even better). I'm asking for Wii fit for Christmas from my in-laws, so I should be good to go. The Wii is in addition to my gym time etc.

I am in too!!!! I missed the 500 mile challenge, I don't want to miss this one....I am hoping to get a stationary bike from my mom or a WII fit...I will be using whatever I receive from x-mas and my Gazelle plus I will use the fit channel and get some more cardio in that way...

Please add me to this challenge too! I do walking, strength training, BL DVDs, Jillian DVDs (30 day shread etc), Leslie Sansone brisk walking DVDs. I also want to try out some more work outs on exercise TV -which are "on demand".

I am hoping to get a treadmill or an exercise bike or something so I can do that too. We really need to check out the thrift stores around here.

I hope all the above exercises are ok. please let me know!

Wohoo!! Count me in! This will be great timing, with Santa bringing the Wii. I hope to get lots of use out of the Wii and Wii Fit. Along with hopefully getting my rear back into the gym. Isn't having a gym that stays open 24/7 supposed to take away the excuses?? lol

I wasn't quite able to finish the 500 mile challenge due to most miles walking, but I will sure try my best again to do this challenge to the end in time. So please add me to the challenge too. I will be doing aerobics, walking, circuit training, and the bike. And Santa is suppost to bring a wii.

LOL I hear ya Pioneeress! I joined too late to officially do the 500 mile challenge, but I jumped iin anyway and I[m determined to keep going until I reach 500 miles-even if it's not in the same time frame-Join me in my quest to accomplish 500 miles!

I had plan on continuing it may take me til the end of the year but I am not giving up.Glad to have someone continuing it with me.

Sounds like a good time to me. Can I ask that dancing be included on the exercise list? I have some dancing DVDs, Dance, Dance Revolution, and take dance classes sometimes with my hubby. Anyone who says dancing isn't exericse hasn't done swing, lol.

Dancing is included - that's why I have the couple dancing on the logo wink.gif i've been thinking about taking a few classes myself.

I haven't asked anyone yet to make any changes to their sigs, but I have noticed that their sizes have really crept up over the last while. Please consider using smaller tickers and posting them side-by-side in your signature blocks, like Kristie's, see post #26 below. tongue.gif

Oooo!!! We're all official and everything!!!!! Thanks idallia!! I didn't even know we had a calendar!

ETA: The Fall Challenge actually ends of the 14th - I got the dates wrong when I made the first thread. The 10th week ends on Sunday December 14th.

AND ... I will make an attempt to get my signature into compliance. HOWEVER - I'm not sure I can get both tickers on one line. And I won't compromise my "creativity" ... haha! But I will try.

I'm in definitely. sounds great I need something to keep me accountable. I will be doing my usual hour walks daily plus I run 5 miles a week (I'm hoping to increase the weekly run). I also plan to do my belly dancing (woo never thought that would be as much of a workout as it is). Kickboxing, jumproping, and anything else I can come up with. I tend to get bored so I have to change my workouts often. My problem will be not cheating on my diet. I'm glad this starts after Christmas. thanks sounds like fun

You can count me in. I will be walking some but most of it will be cardio dvds because we have snow where I am at. I will also be doing some jump roping. Maybe this will get me motivated and moving.

And please remember to create a ticker for tracking purposes before December 28th. Those in the 500-Mile Challenge just need to reconfigure theirs for HOURS instead of MILES.

From your INBOX - click Compose Message. You'll see the TO box ... and the very end of that box you'll see a little blue square - click that and it will open a list of all your contacts. Click ALL - and it will add everyone into the TO box. Then send your message as normal smile.gif
