I thought it would be fun to create a thread to share your NSV's! Sometimes the scale just isn't enough to keep us going and technically we shouldn't use it more than once a week anyway. It's nice to have some little rewards along the way. Examples: clothing that suddenly fits, choosing not to eat the birthday cake or ice cream, being able to run a full mile instead of just down the block...you get the idea!!
Don't let the scale be your only reward!! Share away!!
Today I only had 1 diet coke!!! I'm trying to switch over to water and it's been a huge struggle! Only having one is huge!!

I moved from the Minneapolis area down to Mankato this summer, so I haven't seen my old hockey team mates since the end of last season. I had a chance to practice with them last weekend, and I'm down close to 20 lbs since I saw them last. Several girls had really nice comments when they noticed my weight loss. Days like that REALLY keep me motivated. Can't wait to see what my family thinks when I go home to NC this coming weekend!

My bras are no longer uncomfortable. I think that means they fit now. LOL! Sorry guys

and I'm noticing that on the days I really push hard workouts, that my hunger is very much controlled.

South Carolina is full of little towns and I live in one of them. My job is in another county. I usually shop where I work for convenience sake. I had to run into *my* town today. I saw three different people I hadn't seen in a month or so. None of them recognized me! I guess when people see you on a daily basis, it isn't that noticeable. It feels really good when someone can tell the difference and compliments you on it!!!

When bike riding today I did not have to shift down the gears the entire 5.2 miles. I did have to go 2 gears down on Monday and Tuesday (same route all three days).
I love this thread, BTW!
There's always something to be thankful for.

Congratulations! I remember my first time finally being able to get "normal" sized clothes. Even now, any time I go into a department store, I tend to head to the plus size section and have to remember each time that I don't have to go there anymore. It is so odd at first but big time congrats!

Great Idea for this!!!
My NSV is my workplace this week. Everyday so far this week my coworkers have been bringing in food....donuts, cake, chips you name it it has been there. Today my boss bought Mexican Food for for lunch for everyone. I am so Happy to say I have passed on all of the tempations this week!! Each time I went in the break room I would just grab a cup of water from the cooler. I really wasn't hard, I am getting to the point I don't even like the look of donuts anymore!!

Congrats to everyone on your NSV's. I love this thread and thought I would add mine. Last weekend, I went shopping and was able to buy bras one size smaller. I actually liked how the shirts I tried on fit! And, two days this week I have been able to wear pants that are a size smaller than what I was wearing!!

My NSV this week was the realization that I'm ready to follow a dream I have been scared to pursue until now. I found an empty storefront on Main St in my little town, and am working up a plan to turn it into a small hometown gym!
I'm finally comfortable talking to people about my personal training, not afraid like they will look at me and think "personal trainer"? Who has a butt that big and trains people?

It feels great to be comfortable with that!

OK. My daughter is getting married in Jan. I had to go pick up her dress today and they asked if I had my dress yet and of course NO. Trying to get down to a certain lbs before the wedding. The AWSOME lady that helped with my daughters dress had me try on dresses that would look good on me for my shape ( round I should say). I was SHOCKED !!!! I was able to fit into a size 16 AND I have a WAIST LINE!!! So I think I have the dress style and color picked out, now its up to me to get it in a smaller size!

Wow way to go...that has been a dream of mine too...to open a gym for all ages and shapes....we have one little gym in the next town to us and it is set up for the men and weights lifting more than anything else. I would love to open one for all.

Yesterday, I went jean shopping. The jeans that I was wearing were getting to big on me. All I can say was, if I ran in them...They would fall off. I ended up actually trying on jeans, since I did not know what size I am currently. After all, I went down THREE sizes.

MY NSV FOR THE WEEK!!!!
I signed a pledge at my Curves at the beginning of the holiday season pledging that I would work out there 3 times a week and make good choices over the holiday season. At the end, whoever had the most weight and inches lost won a prize. Today I found out... I WON!!!! WOOOHOOO!!! I AM TOLD THAT I WON BY A LANDSLIDE!!! Wow, that makes me feel amazing!!! I won a gift box of Lupicia Fresh Tea. I am not much of a tea drinker, but would love to start. Does anyone have any input on this tea? It comes with 3 flavors, White Christmas, Tarte Au Poire, and Decaf Carol. What's the best way to prepare/drink it? Also, it came with 3 mini white tea and strawberry tea sweets and 3 mini red vanilla tea sweets. Go figure they give me something with a cookie type thing in it for losing weight! LOL!! But, I am soo excited and feel so great!

Funny that I should find this thread today. I had been complaining on my blog about the fact that I had only lost 3 inches in my waist in spite of having lost nearly 30 lbs. Well I decided today to do "start of the year" all-over measurements. I have lost a total of 20 inches over all in the last 6 months. I guess that would be an NSV. Rilla

THANK YOU!!! It's so true about them still being a business. You would think that they would've checked on that before handing it out as a prize. LOL. My plan is to either give them away, or treat myself to one, just ONE, every so often when I have a cup of the tea. They are very small, and I am looking at every so often meaning no more than once a week. I think that might be nice... and I would get all the benefits of my prize. Maybe I'll save just 3, and give the other pack away. Hmmm... Don't worry, no plan to over-indulge!

Last night I had a huge NSV for myself. I was on my way home from class and I was thinking of all the things I have to do in the next week, study for exam, paper, assignments, work, taxes...etc. and all I wanted to do was have something sweet that wasn't good for me. I thought about it all the way home and told myself I wasn't going to give in, and I DIDN'T!! I came home, had some fruit and got on my exercise bike. The old me would have easilsy stopped at the store and picked up a package of cookies or something else terrible and probably eaten the entire package!!
Baby steps, but we can all get there!

Yay! I've got one!
I completed a half marathon yesterday in 2:04:58. I had two goals. One was to average under a 10 minute mile, which I did with a 9:32 per mile average and my second goal was to run the whole thing, which I did!
My knees were aching today, but I'm so proud of myself and I'm so excited to do it again.
Less than one year ago I could have never imagined running half a mile, much less 13.1. I'm feeling really happy.

Wow, I love this thread!!! It's so great reading about other people's success!
I don't have anything huge... but my two for this week was 1) I went out with friends and still ate well and 2) I finally went to a strength class that use to intimidate me and I finished the entire hour! It seems silly -- but I had a mental block about it... now I want to do that class again! I can't wait for next week! It felt good (and sore) after finishing it!

We went to Olive Garden Saturday night for my grandson's 18th birthday (his favorite place--bad for me!!). Anyway I checked the calorie counts on their entrees before we went. Most every one was 1500 or more. Good thing was I had a good 3+ mile run that morning so I had some room to splurge. So I ordered my favorite--Chicken Alfredo, put 1/2 of it in a to-go box. I ate the salad, 1/2 of the entree and 1/2 breadstick. Which I consider a victory!! Anyway this morning I am thinking of the leftovers in my fridge, thinking--I really need to eat that. Then in my head I remember a Weight Watcher leader probably 10 years ago saying, "It costs the same if you eat it or throw it away". So why do I want to put another 750 calories in my body??? I really enjoyed it at the restaurant and it probably wouldn't taste that good heated up. So I will probably just throw it away!!!

Way to go everyone!
This morning I ran my very first 10:00 mile- straight, no stopping. Usually I have to slow down a little at the end, but today I just locked it in and powered through. Yay! This is just a big accomplishment for me, especially because running is not my favorite thing to do, so I wanted to share it with someone.
Keep up the good work!
