I am following the Biggest loser plan, and do not wish to "try" any other plans (carb counting) ect. I read the thread about Leptin and decided it was best for me to ignore it. Wondering if anyone else has come across a plateau. I have lost 12 lb and am stuck for 3 weeks. have tried increasing calories, decreasing calories, and upping intensity of workout. It seems hopeless at this point. I am defenitely healthier, cardio is way better, and energy is better. Just feel like I must be missing something simple. I am rereading the book again. Every week my weight is pretty much the same or higher than last. I am journaling everything (down to chewing gum and beyond.) 30 minute interval training on treadmill per day, Biggest loser cardio max 1x per day for the last 4 days. I think I'm going to take today off of exercise, for the first time in a long time. I look forward to any advice, or what worked for others. Inspiration needed, and possible ideas. Thanks.

You may need a cheat day. One day where you eat anything you want. This will shock your body. Then jump right back on the next day. Also, you may need to switch up your exercise. If your body is used to doing the same thing, it doesn't respond as well. I was stuck for about 8 months, then got the body bugg and realized that my calorie counting was way off. Sounds like you are on top of that, though. You might want to measure everything for a while if you aren't already. Also, you may want to note your sodium consumption. Good luck--this too shall pass. Don't give up!! You've come too far!

Great suggestions Jpars. Jpars is right, the more you do an activity, the more efficient your body becomes at doing it. The result is that you burn less calories for that activity. On one hand, this is great, because it means that your body is getting healthier. But on the other hand, you are burning less calories so something needs to be changed. Have you tried increasing the incline on the treadmill? This will engage the thighs and butt more, which are larger muscle groups that burn more calories.

Have you tried adding some weight training? If you can build more muscle, muscle burns more calories at rest. I am watching this happening with myself right now, although my weight loss has not stalled yet, but watching my heart rate monitor....it takes longer to get my heart rate up and the intensity that I am working at right now is not enough to keep my heart rate up in the fat burning range. So I am looking at needing to mix it up some to keep from stalling out.

Also, if you are at a weight that you have previously stayed at for a while, your body may have decided that this is a set point and will try to stay there, in which case doing something like a "cheat" day would help. Good luck and stick with it!

You guys rock... I had a cheat day, and added a little to the exercise routine, and started measuring again. I'm back on track and the weight is coming off again. I just wish I could figure out how to put a weight loss ticker on here.

That's fantastic!! Sometimes, we just have to trick our bodies.

Ticker: first go to www.tickerfactory.com or another ticker site (you can also click on someone else's ticker) then create your own ticker. Copy the BBL code.

Go to 'My Controls' in the red bar at the top of any of the board pages and click on it. in the left hand column it says "Edit Signature' and 'Edit Avatar settings' click on edit signature paste the BBL code in the signature box and save.
