I am an extremely picky eater, and I want to lose weight. The only fruits and vegetables that I will eat are: apples, bananas, grapes, and green beans. I have a huge thing with texture. (my mind plays terrible tricks on me). I want and need to lose weight. I need to do it for myself and for my daughter. She too is over weight. Unfortunatly she is borderline diabetic and has probelms with her cholesterol.

Does anyone know how to get over this issue? I know I need to eat better. I just don't know how to bring myself to do it.

Alison,
You are not alone, I have the same issue. I can tell you that I have lost the weight (33pounds) working around this issue. I have tried making myself eat them telling myself they are good, that I can do it and nothing. I choked on a salad as a child and my mom swears that is where my problem is, that it is some sort of metal block. Anyways I just wanted to let you know that you can still lose weight even if you do not eat all fruits and veggies. Include the ones you like. Some have suggested putting the others in different foods, this has not worked for me but I will keep trying.

You can do it. Just let me know if I can help in any way.

I understand your problem. I'm a "texture" eater too. Not nearly as pickie as you are, but I do understand about certain textures are just not going to stay in the mouth or go down the throat. Just remember that no matter what you do you have to burn more calories than you eat. Even if it's not fruit & veggies, you can still count calories and make sure you burn more than you take in. Also, you might want to add a multi-vitamin & a fiber supplement to make up for the lack of fruits & veggies in your diet, if you're not doing that already.

I'm also a picky eater but just because there are only a certain amount of fruits and veggies that you will eat that is no reason that you can't do this. I started at 210lbs and i'm down to 147. try the biggest loser family cook book they have so great recipes that are amazing just eat lots of protien and try to have at least 4 servings of the friut or veggies that you do like.
